If you’ve ever used a poor microphone you’ve probably noticed that it will have a HISS during the part where the speaking has stopped. Even though the Rode SmartLav Microphone is an awesome, convenient Lavalier Mic, it too can suffer from Hiss.
Now, by using the Secret Settings shown in this video, you can minimize that HISS sound. These settings will need to be changed in the RodeRec App.
When coupled with Audacity (a FREE Audio Software) Hiss can be almost completely eliminated!!!

This is a GREAT YouTube video from Aron J. Anderson showing how to set up and use the FiLMiC Pro App on your iPhone 4s for shooting video.
This would also pertain to the iPhone 5.
Here is a stunning example of the quality of video you can get by using the FiLMiC Pro App (approximately $4.99 at this posting date) on your iPhone and then do a little editing in post production.
This video is by Adam Boros and was posted on YouTube a few months ago.
It was shot in the 1080p Setting, 24 frames per second and 50 mbit/second and a Tripod was used. Then it was edited in Final Cut Pro X.
Here is the setup I used for Capturing Video using the iPhone 4s for a Review of the Marshall MXL USB Microphone. I then uploaded it for use on YouTube.
-2 each Clamp-On Lights using 100 Watt Compact Fluorescent Bulbs. I used Light Stands to hold the Lights in place. (You could clamp them to something else close by if you don’t have Light Stands. You don’t have to have Light Stands)
-The iPhone 4s is attached to a Tripod in the foreground of the picture. I had a special mount that holds the iPhone to a tripod. They are very cheap. ( If you don’t have a way to mount the iPhone to a tripod, you could hold it in place by maybe supporting it on a table with books, etc. Being creative helps you to stay in budget.)
