Audio Technica AT875R Short Shotgun Condenser Microphone Review and Sound Test

A really good Shotgun Microphone can cost an arm-and-a-leg. Unless you look at the Audio Technica AT875R Short Condenser Shotgun Microphone!

It’s reasonably priced and has great sound! It needs Phantom Power to run, but you can use an inexpensive pre-amp to do the job.

Shure MVL Lavalier Lav Lapel Microphone Sound Test and Review

The Shure MVL Lav Mic is a Well Built and Great sounding Lavalier (lapel) microphone. But, it’s only supposed to be used while being plugged into a Smartphone.

Is there anyway around that? Take a look and see what we found out:

The Shure MVL Lavalier Microphone is one of new breed of Lav mics made for the Smartphone market. It comes with a TRRS Connector to plug into an iPhone or Android device. By using the Shure MOTIVE App you’ll be able to record your voice. It’s uses include recording, say, a groom at a wedding. Connect the MVL to your smartphone, clip it to the groom’s lapel, turn on the MOTIV app, and record the ceremony. Neat!

The Rode NT3 Hypercardioid Condenser Microphone for Great Audio

I have owned this Rode NT3 Hypercardioid Condenser Microphone for about 1 1/2 Years and never really tested it out. So, I had a little time to give it a try and made this quick video.

It’s an XLR Style Mic, so you’ll need a way to plug-in XLR Connections with your set-up. The way I was able to do that was by using an iRig Pre PreAmplifier made by IK Multimedia. The iRig Pre allowed me to be able to plug the audio from the Rode NT3 into my iPhone and capture the audio.
